August 28, 2006—With the football and hunting season right around the corner, a pickup's tailgate becomes a popular seating area. Frustrated with uncomfortable seating on his pickup's tailgate, a Clinton Township businessperson has invented an innovative seating solution. The TaleGator is the only comfortable two-seater product of its kind specifically created and designed to fit the back of most pickup trucks. Lightweight (approximately 6 lbs), fitted with beverage and food compartments, and easy to install, the TaleGator is the ideal product for tailgaters, hunters, picnickers, campers, construction workers, or anyone requiring comfortable seating while outside of their pickup. The TaleGator starts at $50 for the gator-embossed black version and up to $125 for bonus colors including RealTree® camouflage and camo swirl. It will soon be available at various retail outlets, as the company is currently partnering with multiple sales distributors. |

Joe Fournier, the owner of a Clinton Township tool and fixture building business, invented the TaleGator. “While sitting on the tailgate of my pickup truck, I was reaching behind me to get a beverage. After painfully kneeling on my tailgate cover and spilling my beverage, I became convinced there was a better alternative--comfort should be convenient but not complicated,” said Fournier. He decided to produce a prototype product that was unique in design, comfortable and simple to use. Immediately friends and observers were more than impressed and wanted the product for themselves. Because of this demand, Fournier obtained a patent and protection for the TaleGator and now works with investment partners marketing and selling the product. Lomas Brown, the legendary Detroit Lions offensive tackle and University of Florida Gator alumnus, is a loyal fan of the TaleGator and will become a distribution partner.
